Best Time to Visit Amboseli

Amboseli is a year-round destination, but the experience varies with the seasons. Here’s a breakdown to help you plan your visit

January to June

This period covers the short dry season (January to February) and the beginning of the long rains (March to June). Wildlife is abundant and easy to spot as animals congregate around water sources. Bird watching is excellent, with migratory birds present. The park is lush and green after the rains, providing beautiful scenery.

July to October

This is the long dry season, the best time for wildlife viewing. The vegetation is sparse, making it easier to spot animals. The weather is also more predictable and dry. Clear skies offer spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro. This is peak safari season, so booking in advance is recommended.

November & December

The short rains usually fall in November, bringing a burst of life to the park. December is the start of the short dry season, with good wildlife sightings and fewer tourists. This period is less crowded, providing a more exclusive safari experience. The park is rejuvenated by the rains, with blooming flowers and a vibrant landscape.
